ETEC522 (Fall 2016)

The current e-learning market is extremely robust. While e-learning began as early as the 1990s, it was not until the 2010s that many e-learning organizations started to pop up and really explode. Part of this is due to the rapid advance of technology and how it allows us to transform how instructors teach and how students learn.
Secondly, the speed by which technology is advancing means that what adults learnt in school may already have changed or even be obsolete. This forces them to update their skills to keep current and competitive in their employment. Furthermore, the face of the job market is changing. Instead of being loyal to a company and working there until they retire and receive their pension, most employees change their jobs, or even their field, ever few years to chase after more or different experience and/or a higher salary. In fact, many companies no longer offer their employees pensions. This constant change in employment means that adults must return to school prepare themselves for their new career.
